“Pity The Nation” Pity the nation whose people are sheep, and whose shepherds mislead them. Pity the nation whose leaders are liars, whose sages are silenced, and whose bigots haunt the airwaves. Pity the nation that raises not its voice, except to praise conquerors and acclaim the bully as hero and aims to rule the world with force and […]
“I told you,” said the witch, “HOLD THE WAND LOWER!” “Sorry,” said the girl. “What should I do now?” “I know this is Magic for Beginners 101, but you were just supposed to make the water turn purple, not blow up New York!” “I guess I did something wrong.” “No kidding!” said the witch, pacing […]
“When evil is allowed to compete with good, evil has an emotional populist appeal that wins out unless good men and women stand as a vanguard against abuse.” Hannah Arendt, author
“What is that?” he asked. “Oh, this?” she said, holding out her hands. “It’s my soul. Sometimes it gets tired of staying inside of me, so I take it out so it can sparkle and have more room.” “That’s not possible.” “But I’m doing it,” she laughed. “So, it is.” “That’s just a sparkler.” “What […]

Mish of mishunderstood would love to collaborate with someone using photography and poetry. She is looking for someone to write poetry with her photos or to use someone’s photos to write her own poetry.

peace prevails on trails
sunbeams stretch to stifle darkness
silence speaks volumes
Her trill lilts through
across the poppy fields,
above the mountains,
through the valley,
it spills from towers
into the dreams
bruised from battle,
soothing homeless children
afraid to go to sleep.
Her bones are set with courage,
eyes deep wells of wisdom.
She sings for you and me
a song of dignity.

Schlachtruf der Vögel
Ihr Gezwitscher schilpt durch
es schilpt von den Türmen
in die Träume
die verletzt sind vom Kampfe,
die obdachlose Kinder beruhigen,
die Angst haben, einzuschlafen.
Ihre Knochen sind mit Mut besteckt,
ihre Augen sind Quellen der Weisheit.
Sie singt für dich und für mich
es ist ein Lied der Würde.
