What a beautiful world it could be…

Isn’t it amazing how beautiful livings beings are?  We could concentrate on that, on how we are surrounded by amazing things.  We could make sure that all living things are cared for and protected.  Make sure they have what they need.  We can stop taking their habitats, poisoning their food and water.  We can be be careful and polite.  Gorgeous landscapes, birds, animals, all sorts of beings are everywhere (everywhere we haven’t destroyed).  But instead, we barely see the things around us, more so than ever with our eyes locked onto one screen or another.  And as the beauty of our world passes ever farther into the background, as it disappears forever, we hardly notice. I think there’s something really wrong with that.  I think there’s something really wrong with us.

Chicklets want peace for everyone and everything…

The chicklets would like everyone and all things to live in harmony.  I gently tell them that, for the most part, the human species is incapable of doing that.  They just stare at me and ask, “Why?”  It’s so easy for them to love everyone and everything…to be happy.  They can’t understand why it’s so impossible for others to feel the same way.  So, they are sending their love out to the world, hoping that it makes a difference.  I hope that it makes a difference as well, somewhere, for someone.

Harmony Begins With Me

Travel-wormhole“Peace begins not with countries, not with nations, and not with governments. Peace begins with you. Peace begins with me. Peace begins with each of us. It is within us.” ~ Prem Rawat

💞

Wandering foreign back roads

Sans news bombarding me from every angle

Away from depressing snippets and soundbites

Construed to perpetuate division and unrest

I’m blissfully off the grid!

Society’s maladies forgotten

Replaced by a celebration of shared commonalities

Soaking up universal love

Strangers morphing into new friends

Eager to share stories of their homelands

Time condenses

A single afternoon reshaping my heart

Strolling enchanting cobblestone streets

Swapping mutually respectful gazes

Studying exotic features

Stunningly unique

Appreciating cultural nuances

Savoring the international pulse

Rather than having it interpreted for me

I’m reminded

Peace is not something wished for from a distance

But rather an empowering choice made with each encounter

Whether thousands of miles from home

Or in my own backyard

I must give my best

While seeking the same in others

Or risk living a sad life

Where I’m continuously offended

Immediately jumping to conclusions

Making examples out of every deemed wrongdoer

Leaving a dense cloud of negativity in my wake

Dearest Universe

Please draw me upward

Whenever I’m tempted to fly so low

Please open my eyes to just how rewarding life can be

When I remember

I’m obligated to find peace within my own heart

Because harmony begins with me…

We can make change happen

Take action

Teach responsibility, not blame

Teach love, not hate

Teach peace, not war

Teach equality

Teach your children

both feminine

that they are enough

that their lives are their own

and that they alone

can define

who and what they are

that they alone can define

what happiness and love

look like to them

that they can choose not to

continue a cycle of violence

but live instead in peace.

to see peace

To know peace, to see peace

we have to teach peace

as a way of life

to ever have a chance

to live in harmony

we must be free

free of all the isms and prejudices

that hold a person down

ageism

sexism

racism

and on and on

teaching “tolerance” is not enough

we will see peace when we

truly celebrate our differences

and achieve equality

Speaking of Peace

DSCF1204

We are but one decibel in the scream

One whisper of insight, unspoken

Tongues too frozen to speak

Or are we tone deaf to the sound of

Fingers running along wind chimes?

Glass, bamboo, shells, stones, porcelain, metal, wood

All different

Dangling in the same sweet sea breeze

Tapping on each others hearts

To find perfect harmony

Animals: Their Gift of Peace and Harmony

When we feel downtrodden …

turkeyvultureAnimals remind us to soar.

When we become numb to the world around us…

Animals demonstrate that fun is a moment away.

When the world seems bleak …

Animals reveal the world is a vibrant place.

When people seek to mark their surroundings so that future generations will know they were here and what they accomplished…

Animals remind us that leaving the world as beautiful and pristine as when we arrived is the more noble gift.

When humans focus on differences and getting ahead…

Animals spend most of their days in peace and harmony.

May you be surrounded by the peace and harmony of animals today.
