Artists4Peace for October – Stop Domestic Violence

Games

by Heartafire

I like to sit in her lap

her warm fingers in my fur.

Sometimes I tease her and pull away and lick myself

and pretend  I’m too busy.

When the master comes home he too likes to  play.

His rough paws toss me into the flower bed.

I feel my bones may break but she pleas to him

“come here”  while  I hide in the garden

chasing lizards and winged things.

I can see her kneel down and he yanks her hair and

slaps the dewdrops streaming from her eyes.

I don’t understand the games my people play.

When it’s done he washes his rusty nailbeds

and says he’s sorry, he had a bad day.

war-cry of birds (Deutsch von Bernd Hutschenreuther)

Her trill lilts through

the trees,

across the poppy fields,

above the mountains,

through the valley,

it spills from towers

into the dreams

of seekers

bruised from battle,

unwavering  crusaders

soothing homeless children

afraid to go to sleep.

Her bones are set with courage,

eyes deep wells of wisdom.

She sings for you and me

a song of dignity.

Schlachtruf der Vögel

Ihr Gezwitscher schilpt durch
Bäume,
über Mohnfelder,
über Berge,
durchs Tal,
es schilpt von den Türmen
in die Träume
der Suchenden,
die verletzt sind vom Kampfe,
unerschütterliche Kreuzfahrer,
die obdachlose Kinder beruhigen,
die Angst haben, einzuschlafen.
Ihre Knochen sind mit Mut besteckt,
ihre Augen sind Quellen der Weisheit.
Sie singt für dich und für mich
es ist ein Lied der Würde.

Heartafire

she wants the best for us (Artists4Peace)

The girl,

sitting in the grass,

she loves red kites

and sunlight and

a rush of wind

in her hair.

She is the soul of the

displaced; do you

feel her there?

She doesn’t want

to hurt us or

intrude upon our world.

Once she lived among us but

chose humbleness instead.

She means us no harm,

has no need for our gains.

If you  see her lift your eyes to  hope.

She is fading fast.
